TBMS

As we approach the end of 2011, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for being a part of the Turtle Bay Music School community. We have had an amazing year, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Here in the brownstone with the red door, we see every day how music transforms our students.  We see it in an adult beginner’s look of accomplishment when they finish their first performance on the concert hall stage; in the laughter of toddlers learning Miss Patti’s turtle song; in the growing confidence of a Saturday Music Project student; in the close-knit camaraderie of group classes; in the smile of a nursing home resident’s face as they are serenaded by our PS 116 orchestra students; and in the pride on a parent’s face as they watch their child grow and improve year after year.

The strength of the TBMS community lies in our commitment to making music accessible to all, regardless of age, experience, or ability to pay.  We are proud to meet 100% of financial aid requests, just as we are proud to bring music education to underserved NYC public school students through our public school partnerships and the Saturday Music Project. As we begin the second year of realizing our three-year vision, we aim to increase the amount of financial aid available, expand our public school partnerships from serving 1,400 students to reach 10,000 students annually, and expand the Saturday Music Project to provide nearly 200 students and their families with four years of unparalleled music education. We will also be offering additional free Hear It Now! concerts, which are open to the entire community.

You can help us meet our goal of raising $25,000 by the end of this year. By making a gift of any size before December 31st, you support our mission to use music to bring together a diverse community. Your gift will help us to open the doors of TBMS to more New Yorkers like you.

All my best in the year to come,
